Consider Becoming a Clinician At Hope For The Journey

Helping others is the best way to help yourself ~John Segel in Shrinking

Being a trauma therapist can be lonely and exhausting…especially if you do this work alone. It also requires that you do your own work. Which is why we believe the best way to grow as a trauma therapist is in community with other therapists. At Hope For The Journey, we value our team and the support we can give each other.

Hope For The Journey is actively building an inclusive & dynamic community of helping professionals dedicated to ending the pain of trauma, particularly sexual trauma. We work with kids, adults, and their loved ones of those impacted by trauma, especially sexual abuse and/or assault.

Our current focus is building a team that has diversity and acceptance for all…

All colors, shapes, sexual orientations, and genders.

We are always looking for clinicians who want more…

more for their clients,

more skills and creative ways to help,

and more support to make it all happen.

Are you ready to join a team where our mission is to inspire hope and create change? Apply today!

Are You Ready To Up Your Counseling Game?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting it all. You became a therapist because you wanted to really help people to heal. You’ve invested time, energy, and money. You deserve to work for a company that rewards grit, encourages creativity, and values you.

We're a Company That's Pushing The Envelope For Trauma Treatment in Texas

We don’t accept that PTSD has to be a life sentence. So, we strive always to learn, lean in, and do better for our clients–all while having fun! We believe the definition of “good trauma work” should constantly be evolving, and we dedicate ourselves to bringing these improved services not just to the greater Austin area, but throughout all of Texas. We have weekly group supervision to hone our complex trauma and dissociation skills and our employees are offered free consultation towards EMDR certification.

Are you ready to be a part of this?

Let's Cut To The Chase...What's The Money Situation?

Okay, so you may be able to earn more if you go out on your own, but maybe not! We are definitely one of the highest paying group practices around. We pay our counselors a very fair rate, and in exchange, offer a ton of support, training, and flexibility. We basically take care of all the business, administrative, social and marketing details that can easily lead to a new private practice going under or to major burnout.

*$1500 hiring bonus, dispersed throughout the first year or used towards an EMDR training.

*Free EMDR certification consultation.

*$54 – $100/hour rate depending on experience and qualifications

*Medical & dental benefits, PTO, and soon-to-be 401K eligibility for full time clinicians (billing 20+ sessions/week).

In addition, we bring a lot of other benefits to the table…

*We have a structured training and onboarding process that sets you up for success in your first 90 days.

*We work to help you identify your ideal clients, then fill your caseload with them. It’s up to you to retain them, of course (& we can help you learn how to do that, too!)

*We give you almost 100% control over your schedule and the ability to work both in-person and remote.

*We are committed to anti-racism and inclusion, which we work on actively in the form of trainings, consultation, and team building activities.

*We have a dedicated Care Coordinator who helps schedule ideal clients on your caseload, bring in referrals, and build team connection.

*We help you stretch and grow clinically with weekly supervision in complex trauma & dissociation treatment modalities.

*We are there when you feel overwhelmed, need to staff a case, or just want to have a social break.

*We care about you & we are committed to helping you succeed–not because we have to, but because you matter to us.

Of course, if you’re looking for a job where you can coast and do the bare minimum for top dollar, please don’t apply here.

                                                                          You will be let down.

Staff Testimonials

“This is the BEST team I have ever worked with. I love working here!”

“I am so very, very grateful for having joined HFTJ. Just grateful.”

“I love our team!”

Excellent Work

There are some parts of the job you might not like. For example, we will ask you to complete notes within 24 hours. And we’ll expect you to reach out to new clients personally before their session just to make sure everything is set. These extra steps will take time and effort, for sure. But it shows our clients we believe in them, and our #1 objective is to inspire hope. Being a part of Hope For The Journey means you understand the why.

Excellent Outcomes

We have high expectations. We want therapists who want to make contact with the psychiatrist and coordinate care. We want clinicians who get all geeked about the awesome advanced training they attended and can’t wait to share about it at the next supervision group. Our vision is to create a place where you feel like you belong and can grow. We want counselors who are authentic and able to look inward when stretching is called for.

We're a Company That Believes In Being Uniquely Us

We are a special group that won’t be a good fit for everyone. That’s fine with us! We want people to know who we are and what we stand for. That way, joining our team feels like a, “Hell yes! THIS is where I belong.”

Drama-Free

We believe in celebrating differences and approaching situations from a grounded, intentional

Non-Judgmental

We pride ourselves on working with people from all walks of life. We also know that hurt people don’t always make good decisions or look “socially acceptable”. We want clinicians who look for the diamond in the rough.

Driven

We want you to want more out of your career. We want to support you in that crazy new workshop idea. Want to grow in leadership? Let us know so we can find a place for your dream to grow.

Team Player

Our vision is to inspire growth and change in our clients and our community, but that starts with our team. The work we do is heart-felt and important and very often HARD. We need to support each other and build each other up.

Reasons You Will NOT Like Hope For The Journey

We have high clinical standards. We expect our team to really help people heal. If you don’t know something, that’s fine, but we do expect you to speak up and ask for help.

We require documentation to be clear, concise, and timely. To us, this piece represents professionalism, accountability, and just another way of being helpful.

We will not tolerate discrimination or closed-mindedness. If one of us does something out of bias, we expect repairs to be made.

You need to know yourself as a clinician and as a person. If you are stressed, we expect you to know what to do to help yourself reset and reach out for help when you need it. Our work can be intense – intensely emotional and intensely rewarding. It is not for everyone.

We look for people who want to partner. We provide a LOT of support for our clinicians while building caseloads, but at the end of the day, building your caseload will have to involve some effort on your part, too, in order to curate a caseload of your ideal clients. This might look like building friendships with other therapists, participating in outside peer consultation groups, engaging on social media, or otherwise developing connections with potential referral sources. It also might look like getting curious about attendance and retention numbers.

We value collaboration. Our clinicians go the extra mile with community partners and collateral contacts.

Reasons You Will NOT Like Hope For The Journey

We are thoughtful. You might not like some of our policies, but they are created purposefully–all centered around our desire to inspire hope and growth in our clients and community.

We listen. If you don’t like something, we want to know. Candid feedback helps us to do things better.

You want to focus on clinical issues, so we streamline and support you in everything else from getting clients in the door to administrative support.

Our systems and policies are developed with you in mind. We are constantly working to do things better, more efficiently, and more effectively so you can focus your time on what really matters.

Our Client Care Coordinator is phenomenal and allows you to focus your time on client treatment. Our billing process is simple & because we’re self pay, your pay will allow you to average a smaller caseload than at insurance-based practices in order to meet your income goals.

Your self-care and growth are one of our highest priorities. We want you to be on fire to do your job, and we recognize the ongoing threat of burnout and secondary trauma. So, we will celebrate you taking good care of you!
