What Is Your Summer Soul Project?
Summer is quickly approaching, and I like to take this season as a kind of project time. You know, it’s a slower pace, there’s a bit more time, the kids are out of school, and we’re changing our routine anyway. So, it’s a great opportunity to say, “I want to dig into this part of my life.”
Past Summer Projects: Personal Growth and Family Time
In the past, my summer projects have been a mix of work-related and personal endeavors. One summer, I decided to start therapy and dedicated three months to it. This was really great for me because I could be outdoors more, moving my body, and integrating everything much more effectively. It also allowed me to spend more time with my family, incorporating the insights and growth from therapy into our daily lives.
Diving into Learning and Personal Challenges
Another summer, I took on a book challenge, reading several books that had been on my list. I’ve also used this time to tackle financial literacy, learning accounting basics, and sorting out our family’s finances. These projects, though varied, have all contributed to personal growth and a sense of accomplishment.
This Summer’s Soul Project: Enhancing EMDR Intensives
This summer, I’m embarking on a work-related soul project that I’m really excited about. We’re going to bring more structure to our EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) intensives and add a retreat aspect to some of them. The research is incredibly promising, showing that intensives can allow people to achieve a year’s worth of therapeutic work in just 10 days or even 6 months of progress in 5 days.
The Promise of EMDR Intensives
What’s fascinating is that studies are indicating people, especially those with more complex trauma, often achieve better results in these intensive formats compared to traditional weekly sessions spread over a year. This summer, I’ll be working on exploring this approach, ironing out any kinks, and ensuring it’s safe and effective for our clients.
What’s Your Summer Project?
So, what’s your soul project going to be this summer? If you wanted to lean into something that could create generational change for you, what would it be? Summer offers a unique chance to slow down, focus, and dive deep into a project that can make a lasting impact. Whether it’s personal growth, family time, learning a new skill, or tackling a long-avoided task, take advantage of the season to enrich your life and create positive change.
